For me the time saving involved with wireless charging is a real plus. It might just be a few seconds here and there, but I stop frequently to take photos on my phone and not having to unplug/plug in a cable every time is a bonus. Bar spacers are included allowing the standard version to fit 22mm (7/8”), 25mm (1”), 28mm (1 1/8”) and 32mm (1 ¼”) diameter handlebars, with the Pro also accommodating up to 35mm (1 3/8”) bars. I would then video the devices as I rode on paved and on sandy, wash boarded roads and record the movements of each device.

The issue is attributed to the vibrations generated by the bike's engine, rather than the vibrations from the road. There are many different types of solutions, including solid mounts, X-mounts, X-mounts with rubber bands, spring release claw-like mounts, etc. However, most of them are similar. They cradle and surround the phone with varying degrees of retention. Apple's guide to temperature regulation, which has some crossover with other phone brands, recommends keeping your phone out of direct sunlight or operating in a hot vehicle. Designed to fix in place of the screws that hold the lid on many motorcycle and scooter brake / clutch reservoirs, this mount is a very clever design that opens up even more options. For this test, I used the handlebar mount. Installation, including the vibration mount and the wireless charging head, is a breeze. It took me less than 10 minutes to mount the whole setup. Easy. If this happens, remove your phone from the charger and allow it to cool before continuing to charge. If possible, positioning the phone/charger near an A/C vent can help keep the phone and charger cool.

Is it the bike’s engine vibration that’s causing the issue when it happens, or vibration from the road? Both versions of the mount come with two sets of expanding spacers, but the Pro’s are a different design with a slightly larger range of 12.4mm to 25.4mm. For either to work, the tube must be smooth internally with a minimum depth of 45mm – if there’s any lip inside it won’t fit. There’s still the question of whether that movement is beneficial for the phone compared to being held rigidly in place, such as in the case of the claw device. I suspect it’s better for the phone since at least some high-frequency vibes were likely damped out. But I don’t have any scientific measurements to say one way or another with certainty.Within our current offering, there are no identified issues. But if a phone were to be mounted onto specific machinery or equipment, potential issues could arise. Broadly speaking, no issues have been observed thus far.
