About this deal

Cooling: 120mm Fan installed in front panel (120mm radiator or 140mm fan supported). 2x 80x25mm fans supported in side of chassis (not included). While some mini ITX NAS cases do support multiple network ports, this will depend on the specific case model. Many NAS users opt to use a network switch to expand the number of available network ports on the motherboard. So pretty much a versatile approach to go for a barebone ITX NAS case. Are mini ITX NAS cases suitable for home or small office use? Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10, RAID 50, RAID 60 and the always popular and SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID) Much better hardware options than more compact 2-Bay NAS options, as well as the same or better than the 4-Bay

Some apps (such as the Surveillance Center apps) are long overdue an update in visuals and servicesOne of the more interesting things I’ve noticed is the staying power of Mini-ITX-sized cases, especially the ones that hold enough hard drives to host a DIY NAS build. I’ve been building my own computers for a really long time and I’m spoiled in that I’m constantly seeing new case designs or revisions of old favorites’ designs on an ongoing basis. But for DIY NAS builds, I’m usually seeing the same cases build after build. HDD Bays, 4x SATA SSD Bays, 2x M.2 NVMe SSD Bays, 6 Core Intel Xeon W (Embedded Graphics) CPU, 16-128GB DDR4 Memory, 2x 10Gbe Port, 4x 2.5GbE, 3x PCIe Slot, 1x HDMI 2.0 4K 60FPS, USB 3.2 Gen 2, ZFS Option 3yr Warranty Bays, 2x M.2 NVMe 2280, AMD Emb.Ryzen V1500 4-Core 2.2Ghz CPU, 4-32GB DDR4 ECC Memory, 4x 1Gbe Port, 1x PCIe Gen 3×8 Slot, 3-5yr Warranty Finance is only available to permanent UK residents aged >18, subject to status, terms and conditions apply. Versatile 'cube' style case supporting 3x 3.5in HDDs or 4x 2.5in HDD/SSDs and various combinations in between. Suitable for all Mini-ITX motherboards. Ahead of each DIY NAS build comes lots of time researching components’ specifications and prices. The two components I wind up putting the most amount of time and energy into researching are the motherboard and the case. In the eight years that I’ve been researching and building DIY NAS machines, I’m confident that I’ve seen or glanced at nearly every single case that meets the above criteria. The video war really helpful though, will there also be a video regarding the setup (software side)? I’m still hesitant to build my own NAS mostly because I’m not sure how difficult it is to replicate various services offered by synology and qnap (like Synology Drive easily available on PC and Smartphones) and how secure it would be on something like TrueNAS and othersBays, 2x M.2 NVMe SSD Bays, 2/4/6 Core Intel Pentium/i3/i5 CPU, 8-64GB DDR4 Memory, 1x 10Gbe Port, 2x 1GbE, 2x PCIe Slot, 1x HDMI 2.0 4K 60FPS, USB 3.2 Gen 2, ZFS Option 2yr Warranty User-Friendly Panel: Provides two USB2.0 ports, power/restart switches, and a suite of indicative lights. Norco ITX-S8 ( specs): Mini-ITX case, 8 x 3.5” hot-swappable HDD bays, 1 x 2.5” internal drive bay, and uses a 1U ATX power supply.

Robbie, one thing that might be worth testing is PSU orientation and temperatures, I see you put the fan facing inwards, would be interesting to see if temps on the motherboard and in fact drives were higher or lower if the PSU was facing out through the case vents, and thinking about after seeing Gamers Nexus test a Fractal Design mini ITX case, if there’s any sound difference the orientation. To help fund this build, I got Micro Center to sponsor the build video, and they contributed a Kioxia XG6, which is sold under Supermicro's name: Bay NAS Chassis suitable for all Mini-ITX motherboards. Featuring brushed-steel effect panels and high-gloss front, this case provides 2x hot-swap 3.5in SATA drive bays. One full-height PCI or PCI-Express slot is also available. The only thing of note is that the supposedly ‘matched’ constant speed silent fans are running at different speeds (1000rpm and 1100rpm). The fan is supposed to run at 1050 RPM so I assume a that a tiny variation in speed, probably due to static pressure, is causing one to round up and one to round down.Bay Mini-ITX/NAS Chassis suitable for all Mini-ITX motherboards. Featuring brushed-steel effect panels and high-gloss front, this case provides 2x hot-swap 3.5in SATA drive bays. One double-width full-height PCI or PCI-Express slot is also available which combined with the 80 Plus 400W PSU makes this case an ideal choice for a Mini-ITX powered gaming PC.
