Spinfit have been making eartips for a while now, and their claim-to-fame is the name-sake “swivel” mechanism that rotates the top of the inner-stem. This in turn helps to achieve a deeper, more secure seal as the top of the tip (along with the sound-tube) literally bends to get closer to the inner-ear. SpinFit eartips have been one of our favorites here since first trying out a pair that was bundled with the DUNU Luna. The main appeal is that they have the comfortability of silicone tips, but provide a better seal than the average silicone tip due to their namesake patented swivel technology. Basically, there is a joint near the top of the eartip (the part inserted into your ear) which enables it to bend and conform more completely to the shape of your inner ear. The vocal presentation is very clean, but male vocals sound a bit thin to my ears. However, female vocals are really enjoyable on the EM6L. In fact, I would say that female vocals sound even better on this than on the Xenns Top. These eartips are meant for true wireless earpieces. If you find SpinFit CP-350 too short, this one fits between regular CP-145 and CP-350. Bass and low-mids are stronger than CP-350. Vocal is forward with good clarity.
Fitting earphone nozzles: the first problem for the novice is – and it certainly was for me – to find the right SpinFit model to fit a particular earphone. First, one has to select the right diameter of the inner stem so that the SpinFit is being held safely in place. As a rule of thumb, most earphones have a nozzle diameter of 4.5 mm so that the CP145 is the most universal model for initial tip rolling.I also noticed that the EM6L is quite dependent on the source material and the DAC amp connected to it. When I connect it with my Moondrop Moonriver 2 Ti, the mids and trebles are a bit smoother and more forgiving. Whereas with my Fiio Q3, songs with bad recordings or sibilant sounds come through as such. With the Xenns Top, either connected with Moonriver 2 Ti or Fiio Q3, songs with bad recording or sibilant in nature do not sound as bad as they are. The CP100 provides an easy fit on an IEM with smaller to medium sized nozzle like 64 Audio’s Universal fit offerings. CP145 Eartips manufacturers can frolic as there is no real competition between them: all their products are different and there is no universal fit for any earphone/ear canal combination.
It’s the groove in the inner bore that makes the difference: it grips the lip of the nozzle much better than the usual smooth eartips and this provides better comfort, as the tip is more stable, while also providing a more uniform sound quality across earphones: the distance between the sound port and the end of the eartips is constant, so you get the optimal distance that SpinFit found. Speaking of sound, I find the CP500 to be neutral as they don’t modify the sound significantly – for better or for worse. The SpinFit CP800 were the only ones I could not try due to not having compatible earphones: they are made for super-thin nozzles like those used by Shure, Westone and Etymotic. At just 2 mm wide, the inner bore is too narrow to house earphones with 4 mm nozzles (believe me, I tried). I will update this review as soon as I lay my hands on compatible earphones, but I expect them to behave exactly like all other eartips in this list. SpinFit CP1025
The SpinFit CP145 are much like the CP100, but they have a smaller top so they go better inside the ear. The difference is not dramatic in terms of size, but the fit is quite different. The general shape is again ogival, with a height of of 10.1 mm and a with of 13.5 mm. With an inner diameter of 4.5 mm, the CP145 can fit earphones with nozzles up to 5.5/6 mm in diameter: that means that even IEMs with larger soundports, like the Tin HiFi P2, Shanling ME500 Platinum, Fearless Audio S10 Genie or Moondrop A8 will fit correctly, though the silicone will stretch a bit. There are just three sizes: S, M and L. The trebles on the EM6L are really well extended. They are very airy and detailed. However, the detailed trebles come with their cons too. As such, the EM6L is a bit sibilant. It also doesn't compare to the Xenns Top, which has very well extended, extremely detailed, and quality trebles but presents them in a controlled and smooth manner. Hence, it is not fatiguing or overwhelming during long sessions. The Top also has better technicality and separations than the EM6L or the Khan by a huge margin (understandably as they belong in different price ratios). So the trebles sound better on the Xenns Top. The EM6L sometimes sounds fatiguing and piercing with treble-heavy songs. They are equivalent to the CP100 in every respect, except for sound: the new material makes treble a bit stronger overall. SpinFit CP145
Some earphones come with a generous selection of eartips, others don’t. And in some cases, none of the eartips fit or provide an effective seal for the listener, so that the sound quality is compromised. In such situations, third-party eartips come to the rescue. mm longer than CP-100 and CP-145, the additional length and bullet-shaped caps of the CP-155 allow deeper insertion to bring more bass and fuller vocal. When I started using in-ear headphones, around a decade ago, one of the things that I didn’t like about the experience was the eartips. They were just too uncomfortable compared to classic earbuds with foams. Sure, they provided better isolation, but having very sensitive skin I often found myself with irritated ears. Then I discovered foam eartips and that changed things completely, as they were much more comfortable, as isolating as the silicone ones and less prone to cause irritation. So I basically stopped using silicone tips – why bother when the foam ones were so much better for me? But one of the realities of life is that things change, sometimes for the worse and (thankfully) sometimes for the better, and man did my perception of silicone tips change when I discovered the SpinFit tips.Soundwise they are also quite close to the CP100, so they have very little impact (if any) on the sound and allow you to hear it as intended by the manufacturer of the earphones. Fits Jabra 75t, Google Pixel, and more without adapters. Has special adapters for AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds.
