Written mainly in a narrative format (although it does turn into the traditional non fiction format towards the end) this account is material to binge. I couldn't put it down and felt every emotion under the son.

My husband and I led a group of couples through this series. I loved the introspective questions the book stirs in you and the themed weeks. My favorite weeks were "Where is God in the midst of suffering" because it helped give me answers to the question when folks ask "Why me, God?" as well as the prayer, stronghold, and service weeks.

To be ripped apart from that after barely just being able to 'live' as they call it was heart-breaking. Just to be Kunta with his aspirations and dreams and then to be ripped from it just in a split second by someone with their own ideas and taken away from the only thing he knows. I can't imagine just being taken away from my famly and my COUNTRY to some strange place where they don't even speak a language I know. I read this book long, long ago: came across it while going through a book list here on Goodreads, and suddenly felt the urge to post a review.The Waller family already owned the slave Toby in 1762, five years before the Lord Ligonier supposedly landed Kunta Kinte in Annapolis. Haley had only searched for references to Toby after 1767, succumbing to confirmation bias. Dr. Waller did not have a cook named Bell or his own plantation, as he was disabled and lived with his brother John. Toby also appears to have died before 1782, eight years before his daughter Kizzy was supposedly born. "Missy" Anne could not have been Kizzy's childhood playmate, as Ann Murray was a grown woman and already married in the relevant timeframe. In fact, there is no record of a Kizzy being owned by any of the Wallers. [25] Despite it being hard to stomach for many of us from the countryside, Monbiot makes a convincing case. In desperate times, a shift to plant-based and even lab-grown food makes simple mathematical sense. Monbiot’s arguments take account of the needs of everyone in society, not just those who can afford premium meat, and not just those of us in the UK. Regenesis aims to be a gamechanger, and indeed it already makes ideas once thought radical seem tame. Overall an incredible book that I would recommend to any believer.
